3xx Redirection
301 Moved Permanently
The resource has permanently moved to the URL in the Location header.
Browsers and search engines update to the new URL and pass ranking signals to it. Browsers may cache it aggressively.
Notes
- Use it for domain changes, HTTP→HTTPS and changed URL structures.
- Clients may change POST to GET when following a 301; use 308 if the method must be kept.
- Because browsers cache 301s, test with 302 first and switch to 301 once you’re sure.
