Version

How to use

  1. Pick a version: v4 (fully random) or v7 (timestamp-ordered, great for database primary keys).
  2. Choose how many to generate, and optionally uppercase or remove hyphens.
  3. Click Generate, then copy all results at once.

FAQ

Should I use UUID v4 or v7?

v7 starts with a millisecond timestamp, so IDs sort by creation time and keep database indexes compact. Use v4 when you do not want the creation time to be visible.

Are these UUIDs truly random?

Yes. They use crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator.

What is the difference between a UUID and a GUID?

None in practice — GUID is Microsoft’s name for the same 128-bit identifier format.
