FAQ
Which JSONPath features are supported?
$, .name, ['name'], indexes including negative ones, slices [start:end:step], wildcards, recursive descent .., unions [a,b], and filters with == != < <= > >= && || !, @ / $ references and =~ /regex/.
Is it safe to run untrusted expressions?
Yes. Unlike some JSONPath libraries, filters are parsed and evaluated by a small interpreter — nothing is passed to eval, so an expression can’t run arbitrary JavaScript.
How is JSONPath different from jq?
JSONPath only selects data; jq is a full transformation language. JSONPath is what you’ll find in Kubernetes (kubectl -o jsonpath), Postman tests, AWS Step Functions and many SDKs.
