Unix Timestamp Converter

Convert Unix timestamps (seconds or milliseconds) to human-readable dates in local time, UTC and ISO 8601, and convert dates back to timestamps.

Runs locally — your input never leaves this page.

Current Unix time seconds

Timestamp → Date

Date → Timestamp

How to use

  1. The current Unix time is shown live at the top — click it to copy.
  2. Paste a timestamp; seconds, milliseconds, microseconds and nanoseconds are detected automatically by length.
  3. Read the result in your local time zone, UTC, ISO 8601 and as a relative time (“3 days ago”).
  4. To go the other way, pick a date and time and get the timestamp in seconds and milliseconds.

FAQ

What is a Unix timestamp?

The number of seconds elapsed since 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC (the Unix epoch), not counting leap seconds. JavaScript’s Date.now() returns milliseconds instead.

How do I tell seconds from milliseconds?

Current timestamps in seconds have 10 digits; in milliseconds they have 13. The converter uses this rule to detect the unit automatically.

What is the Year 2038 problem?

Systems storing timestamps as signed 32-bit integers overflow on 2038-01-19 03:14:07 UTC. Modern 64-bit systems are not affected.
