524 A Timeout Occurred
Cloudflare-specific: the connection succeeded but the origin didn’t respond within 100 seconds.
Cloudflare’s proxy read timeout (100 seconds on most plans) expired while waiting for the origin.
Common causes and fixes
- Speed up the endpoint, or move long-running work to a background job and poll for the result.
- Stream the response (for example LLM output) so bytes arrive before the timeout.
- Serve long tasks from a hostname that isn’t proxied by Cloudflare.
