4xx Client error
418 I’m a teapot
An April Fools’ joke from RFC 2324: the server is a teapot and refuses to brew coffee.
Not meant for real use, but some services return it playfully or to signal they refuse to handle a request (for example blocked bots).
Common causes and fixes
- If you get 418 from a real site, you may have been identified as an automated client.
